Former President Henrietta Smith with UNYANZ President Matt McGrath, 2008
One of UNYA Australia's principal international activities, PacMUN provides an opportunity for a delegation of Australian high school students to attend New Zealand's premier Model United Nations conference, NZMUN.
UNYA Australia selects the PacMUN delegation from the many young people who have taken part in Divisional and multi-Divisional activities over the previous year, providing them with the chance to represent Australia at the conference. The delegation travels to New Zealand to take part in the conference, as well undertaking a cultural and preparation tour prior to the conference in both New Zealand and Fiji.
NZMUN, convened by UNYA New Zealand, brings together over 190 secondary school students as well as teachers and conference assistants from all over New Zealand. Delegates represent Member States of the United Nations, debating real world scenarios in both committees and the General Assembly.
Applications to be part of the 2009 PacMUN delegation closed on the 10th of January 2009. Successful applicants were notified via email by the end of January.
To be eligible to be part of the 2009 PacMUN, you must be available for travel in late June and early July 2009, and be in secondary school (Years 11 to 12) at the time of attendance.
Please contact PacMUN Director, Felicity Gray, for further information.
